A painting by Kona artist Carol Tredway has been selected as the official artwork of the 2016 Kona Coffee Cultural Festival, Hawaii’s oldest food festival, which gets underway in November.
The festival, which celebrates the legacy and cultural traditions embedded in the world famous brew, spans 10 days and features an array of events from a recipe contest, art exhibit and farm tours to a parade and hoolaulea. The 46th annual installment opens Nov. 4.
The festival theme, “Brewed with Tradition,” inspired this year’s official artwork. Tredway’s island roots contribute to the authenticity of her subjects and her skillful representation of Kona coffee farm life. This unique art piece will be the cornerstone for all 2016 festival collateral including the signature poster, magazine, advertising campaign, and popular retail items.
